Booker High has always prided itself on producing outstanding athletes and 4 H WR Tyren Wortham is proving he belongs among the Tornadoes next wave of standouts. Wortham finished last season with 67 catches for 1,360 yards. At 6’1” 185 lbs, Wortham is a college coach’s dream. Tyren has received 27 scholarship offers since the end of his junior season, including offers from Georgia, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Arizona, Iowa, and Kansas State. Thankfully for Spartan Nation, Tyren has chosen to play for Michigan St University next season. If the Booker Tornadoes are going to compete for a Florida State championship in 2025, Wortham will be a big part of why. "My favorite part of playing for Booker, is game day. We put in the work every week and there is nothing like the feeling of Friday night and getting to showcase how good our team is." Besides Worthams physical gifts and the sacrifices he’s made to be a division 1 football player, he credits his teammates for helping his success. "I get to go against some of the best players in the state of Florida everyday in practice, so I’ve been able to learn and ultimately get better. When you get to go against a 5 H DB everyday in practice, you have to either get better or get embarrassed." Wortham is big on school as well, boasting an outstanding 3.3 GPA. It isn’t just the fans and the media that have noticed that Wortham is big time. Booker Head Coach Carlos Woods "Tyren is a competitor that works hard every rep and isn’t afraid of the moment. When we need a big play, we know he is going to give us a chance." Michigan St football and Coach Jon Smith is building the type of roster that is necessary to compete in the B1G and Tyren Wortham is ready to help lead the Spartans next season. GO GREEN!!!
