Cardinal Mooney wide receiver Kimistri Young has emerged as one of the Cougars’ most electrifying play makers this season. Known for his elite speed, smooth athleticism, and ability to turn any catch into a highlight, Young has added a new level of explosiveness to the Mooney offense. Young held offers from Penn St, Miami, Florida St and my beloved Michigan St University Spartans. Ultimately Kimistri has plans to be an engineer, so he accepted a scholarship to play football at Purdue University. Young leads the Cougars in receiving yards and touchdowns and with 626 yards and 10 touchdowns last season, he has continued to give defensive coordinators nightmares. During his junior season, Young and Cardinal Mooney got an opportunity to play booker and match up against 5H Florida St commit Chauncey Kennon. "Chauncey is my guy, he is a physical corner that makes you work for everything you get."
Much like other big time recruits, Young’s goal is to play in the NFL but equally important to him, is to get a good education while he is in college.
Young’s growth has gone beyond the field. He’s developed into a more complete receiver—refining his routes, improving his timing with the quarterback, and embracing his role as a leader among Mooney’s skill players. His energy and swagger have become contagious, setting the tone for the Cougars' offense each week. "Playing football is like a job, if you keep working and getting better, you will see success. If you call in sick and don't do your job, you are going to get exactly what you put in."
