Freedom McDaniel Braden River Football

There are players who contribute on the field, and there are players who help define the identity of a football team. As Braden River prepares for the 2026 season, senior Freedom McDaniel is determined to be both. As one of the team’s veteran leaders, he understands that his role extends far beyond Friday nights. "I do my best to make good decisions and not put myself in a position to embarrass myself or hurt the team." When Freedom isn’t on the gridiron, he is also part of the wrestling team and in the spring, he will attempt to become a state champion weightlifter as well. As one of the Pirates’ most versatile players, McDaniel is expected to contribute on both the offensive and defensive lines during the 2026 season. His willingness to battle on every snap and do whatever the team needs has made him one of Braden River’s most valuable senior leaders.

Throughout the offseason, McDaniel focused on becoming stronger, quicker, and more technically sound. Countless hours in the weight room and on the practice field have prepared him for what he hopes will be his most productive season yet. "Our entire team has worked hard this offseason and we are confident that we can make a deep run through the playoffs."

Braden River has struggled in recent years but with the addition of head coach Farmer and senior leadership from guys like Freedom, there is a very good chance that after this season is over, people will be talking about the Pirates in a whole new way.
