Megan Haggard Riverview Cheer

One of the best parts of my job, is continuing to learn about different sports and the work that goes into being the best version you can be, while you compete. I have recently learned that contrary to what some might believe, the cheerleaders that entertain us every Friday night, put in an exceptional amount of work while no one is looking.

Riverview senior Megan Haggard is a perfect example of this. When she is not helping to whip the Rams crowd into a frenzy during football games, Megan is also a member of the girls Lacrosse team for Riverview. Now I know what you’re thinking, cheerleading and lacrosse is a bit of a stretch but Megan explained it perfectly. "Our commitment to cheerleading is 11 months of the year.  We only really have 1 month "off" and instead of wasting that time, I wanted to stay active and lacrosse season just happened to come during our break."

School is very important to Megan as well. She is currently in the IBCP with a pathway toward marine biology, with focus on marine life and costal environment. With a weighted GPA of 4.0, Megan puts a strong emphasis on education as well.

As her senior year is moving forward, Haggard reflected on what it has meant to her to be a Riverview cheerleader. "Honestly my favorite part has been all of the friendships that I have made and how this entire community has embraced me and made me feel loved. I was voted captain varsity captain and I am so proud to be a Riverview Ram cheerleader."
