Kinsey Judge • Venice Volleyball

To be on the starting lineup of such a prominent varsity team as a lowerclassman is something every athlete hopes to earn bragging rights to. And luckily for the sophomore Kinsey Judge, she earned those rights her freshman year. Last year, Judge had forty-five kills, sixteen aces, sixty-nine digs, and a hitting percentage of .200. For a freshman who only played forty-eight sets on a team full of talented athletes, she made a promising addition and showed great potential. And when Judge was not playing a set last year, she was taking the time to learn and improve by being a part of a successful team. "I learned last year to always be ready when called upon wherever you're needed, whether it’s a new position or adjusting to the team your playing. I will continue to take that with me throughout the rest of high school and beyond, in and out of sports." 

Judge is now entering her second year on Venice’s varsity volleyball team and after watching her performance against Bradenton Christian’s team, she proved that she is going to be a critical piece of the team early in the season. Judge had a total of ten kills against their opponent on Thursday. On top of that, she contributed several blocks and digs. Statistically, the sophomore has shown that she has improved significantly this season, already totaling thirty-two kills, five blocks, twenty-two digs, and an ace in only four matches so far. "A goal of mine is to win states this year. The entire team is trying to show up and get ready to work with lots of energy consistently which will hopefully bring us to our seventh state championship." 

Without any doubt, if Judge keeps playing the way she does out on the court, I truly believe that Venice’s team has a good chance of making it back to the championships this year and winning the title.
